About the Chapter
The American Subcontractors Association is a
non-profit trade association representing subcontractors, specialty
trade contractors and suppliers - the heartbeat of the construction
industry.
ASA members work in the electrical, mechanical, drywall, plaster, steel,
masonry, concrete, plumbing, roofing, excavation and nearly every other
specialty trade in the construction industry. Members are also
suppliers to the construction industry such as insurance, consulting,
and materials, - almost every construction industry need is offered
through members.
The association strives to inform building owners, financial
representatives, government officials and others of the fact that more
than 80 percent of all industrial and commercial construction is
performed by subcontractors. It also emphasizes needed reforms on such
issues as prompt payment, retainage, surety bonding, lien rights,
bidding practices and entitlement to payment.
ASA is the only construction association that concentrates exclusively
on the business issues affecting all subcontractors and specialty trade
contractors.
